Ardonagh Advisory strengthens Ethos’ presence in Yorkshire with acquisition of PB Curran
Ardonagh Advisory today announces it has acquired PB Curran, an independent, family-run broker, specialising in commercial, landlords, farming and private clients insurance.
With more than 50 years’ experience in General Insurance, PB Curran has long-standing relationships in place with insurers and clients across the UK.
PB Curran was founded by Patrick Curran, Director Edward Curran’s father in 1961 and has grown over the years through a series of strategic acquisitions.
The business employs nearly 40 people and operates from three locations with headquarters in York, and two additional offices in Middlesbrough and Ossett.
On completion, PB Curran will join Ethos Broking, building its presence in Yorkshire and the North East of England together with Ethos brokers Schofield, Lockyer and BSIS. Director Edward Curran will continue to run the business day-to-day, working with Richard Tuplin, who leads Ethos Broking as part of his role as CEO of Advisory Insurance Brokers Limited (AIBL) and Alan Sumner, Regional Managing Director, Ethos Broking.
Richard Tuplin, CEO AIBL said:
“PB Curran’s long trading history, its diverse specialisms, and its access to a range of high-quality and competitive insurance products, will prove beneficial to our existing proposition, both within Ethos and the wider Ardonagh Advisory platform.
“PB Curran is a highly respected business that upholds traditional values with a commitment to client service at its core.
“We look forward to working with Edward and the team and exploring further opportunities to expand our footprint in York and surrounding areas.”
Edward Curran, Director, PB Curran commented:
“PB Curran is a family-run broker, with decades’ worth of experience, serving our clients and developing trusted relationships, so when it came to taking our next steps, it was incredibly important to make the right decision.
“The opportunity presented by Ethos, was hugely compelling and we know that we will be able to continue to the run the business in a way that completely aligns with our values.
“During our initial discussions it soon became clear we had found the right partner, Ethos put their clients and staff at the centre of their business.
“Ethos represents a new chapter for PB Curran, and we’re excited by the many possibilities available within Ethos and the wider Ardonagh Advisory platform.”
Phil Bayles, Chief Commercial Officer, Ardonagh Advisory said:
“Ardonagh Advisory is always on the look-out for great businesses that can bring something a little different or enhance our existing offer. PB Curran is a brilliant example of that and I’m really pleased to welcome Edward and the team to Advisory.
“A key factor for us is around finding those businesses that share our ambitions and ways of working so that we can continue to collaborate across Ethos and the wider Ardonagh Advisory platform.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming even more businesses like PB Curran into the fold, so that together we can explore even greater opportunities for growth.”
