Ardonagh Specialty is proud to join forces with the African-Caribbean Insurance Network (ACIN) as its first corporate broker partner.

ACIN, an initiative supported by Lloyd’s, has been created to boost black and minority ethnic diversity within the London market and wider insurance industry through education, recruitment and job placement.

The network was founded in 2018 by underwriters Godwin Sosi and Junior Garba who created this initiative to amplify the voices of black and minority ethnic professionals in the London Market.

Today, the network champions graduate recruitment, internships and work experience for young black and minority ethnic insurance professionals as well as facilitating networking and events for its 300-strong members and industry-focused research and study.

ACIN hosts the sector’s largest university careers fair tour, where volunteering members from across the market demonstrated the benefits of joining the industry to more than 2000 students from a variety of backgrounds and disciplines across the UK.

Many of these students became members of the network, who then had access to ACIN led insight days, webinars, 1:1 support, mentoring, work shadowing and much more – all in an effort to attract the next generation of talent.

Ardonagh Specialty, alongside the rest of The Ardonagh Group, is committed to improving the diversity of our businesses and the wider sector, alongside building inclusive, respectful and fair working cultures where people can bring their full selves to work.

The partnership is an important step in Ardonagh Specialty’s journey to grow ethnic diversity across its businesses through collaboration on member learning and development, student networking events, and participation in research working groups.

Commenting on the partnership, Ardonagh Specialty CEO James Masterton said: “We’re thrilled to be working with the ACIN as their first corporate broker partner as part of our contributions to building a more diverse industry and making it an attractive destination for the very best talent from all backgrounds.”

“We believe ACIN’s core objectives of professional coordination, talent attraction, empowerment, education and network broadening are key to unlocking our own business’ diversity journey as well as being critical to increasing cultural competence of the London market as a whole.”

ACIN Founders Godwin Sosi and Junior Garba added: “It is a pleasure to have Ardonagh come on board as the first corporate broking partner of the ACIN. Together we aim to work collaboratively with Ardonagh to change the traditional narrative of the London market and help them in the areas of talent attraction and education on inclusion within the working environment. From the onset Ardonagh Specialty has shown real interest from the top down and have been keen to be a part of driving this change forward. As a network we are pleased to be able to assist them in this vision of making the insurance sector a more attractive industry for all.”
